Becoming the hands and feet of Jesus is where we embrace the heart of God. When we allow our hearts to be transformed by the Father, we slowly begin to create room for compassion. The thoughts during my first experience with Shady Hill bounced back and forth between finding confidence in my identity in Christ and remembering the servant-hood of Jesus during His ministry.
I found myself in a whole new realm of outreach. Being exposed to similar events helped me prepare for a meeting such as this one. I had to remind myself of who I was and what I was called to be. I remember telling myself that all I want to do is be like Christ despite what my flesh was thinking. I lacked confidence in believing that I could somehow make a difference being there, but His spirit quickened mine to hear the words “Show them My heart.” It was as simple as that. Showing them the heart of Christ. What did that look like? A small handshake or a simple smile was all that was needed to show someone at Shady Hill what God’s heart looked like.
